A new $45 million program at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute is looking to train and help scientists from historically underrepresented groups. If you’re ever in need of proof of Seattle’s innate quirkiness, the Fremont Fair ought to be at the top of your list.
The Fremont Fair — which happened in all of its silliness over the weekend — is an annual celebration that aligns with the Summer Solstice (happening Tues., June 21). The celebration is marked with 300+ vendors, beer gardens, and two stages for live performances. But the crown jewel of the weekend is the Solstice Parade which features bike riders cleverly covered in body paint, flashy parade floats, costumed characters of all sorts, marching bands, and dancers.
