We’ve got some sweet news for you, Seattle. Sweetgreen, the mission-driven restaurant brand known for its healthy menu options, is expanding its footprint in Seattle with a second location in South Lake Union (801 Lenora St.).

Mark your calendars: Seattlietes are invited to the grand opening celebration of the SLU opening on Tuesday, March 26 (yes, that’s tomorrow). Store hours are 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.

Sweetgreen also partnered with Dierdre Patterson, a black female artist who hails from Seattle, to commission a piece for the new location inspired by the city. Titled ‘Urban Jungle’, the mural deconstructs Seattle’s natural beauty into a modern tapestry. Inspired by local resources, the color palette mirrors those seen around the city. To celebrate opening day, the first 250 guests will receive exclusive Sweetgreen merch made in Seattle featuring printed artwork by Patterson.

Bonus: For every meal sold on opening day, Sweetgreen will donate a meal to Northwest Harvest to nourish Seattleites experiencing food insecurity. Northwest Harvest is a food justice organization that provides millions of nutritious meals to 400+ partner programs and addresses the root causes of food insecurity by advocating for equitable food policies.

This opening marks the next step in the fast-casual salad chain’s expansion plan in Emerald City. Sign up for opening day updates and future location openings in Capitol Hill coming later this year.

From the editor
It was so nice to get a little spring break this week. While I used some of the time to kick it around the neighborhood, I also went up to Bellingham to visit my family. While I love living in the city, it’s always nice to be in the woods for a bit.
