SEAtoday staff here. We’ve got a goal to raise $2,500 by the end of this week to support our staff and operations. Fun fact: We’ve turned down more than a million dollars in political ads since we first started. We’re that serious about our brand promise.

This election year, we promise to keep your morning news read unbiased, stress-free, and focused on the thing you care about: knowing what’s going on in our city. That means no political ads. Help support our approach to local journalism and give to our fundraising campaign today.

A few weeks after dropping a proposal for a $1.35 transportation levy, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has come back with a finalized version that citizens will vote on come November 2024.

The main difference between the info released in April and what we have now is a $100 million increase in the levy’s budget to address priorities raised by locals during a public feedback period.

The budgeting now includes investments like:
    • $145 million for transit connection improvements — $23 million more than originally proposed
    • $135 million for sidewalk repairs — $26 million more than originally proposed
    • $114 million to expand the city’s bike lane network — $20 million more than originally proposed
    • $66 million for public space activation and increased lighting — $11 million more than originally proposed
If approved by voters, this proposal will run for the next eight years, replacing the Levy to Move Seattle that expires at the end of 2024.
