News Notes
Transit
  • Local officials have cut the red ribbon on the new $144 million King County Metro RapidRide G Line. Service starts Saturday, Sept. 14, with the route running from downtown through Capitol Hill and over to Madison Valley. Arrivals occur every six minutes throughout most of the day.
Closing
  • It turns out bread absorbs tears exceptionally well — not that we know from experience or anything. Popular Oregon-based food truck Sammich has closed due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The truck had been permanently stationed outside Project 9 Brewing Co. (Eater Seattle)
Number
  • $9.10 — that’s as cheap as Chipotle’s Chicken Al Pastor gets in Seattle. Compare that to Chipotle prices across the country. Psst — the same dish could cost you $12.10 in New York City.
Development
  • The groups behind Woodinville’s Schoolhouse District recently refinanced the development for $77 million. Completed in 2021, the district includes 264 housing units and 44,800 sqft of wine-focused retail. (Puget Sound Business Journal)
Sports
  • The Seattle Seahawks are filling out their practice squad while a few players deal with injuries, reuniting some peers. Hear from the local experts on the Seahawks as they break it down on Locked On’s daily, team-focused podcast.
    Try This
    • Want to know when the newest pop-ups, art installations, and events are coming? Sign up for the Seattle Restored digital passport to be in the know about these exciting downtown happenings while supporting local creative entrepreneurs.*
    Finance
    • Did you know some credit cards can actually help you get out of debt faster? (It sounds wild, but it’s true.) The secret: Find a credit card with a “0% intro APR” period for balance transfers. These are hands down some of the best.*
    Wellness
    • One scoop of NativePath Hydrate = increased energy, muscle strength, and bladder function. Enjoy 44% and free shipping, plus a free gift with purchase.*

    From the editor
I wrangled Madeline into doing my favorite hike in Washington at Ptarmigan Ridge this weekend. It’s one of those trails that’s beautiful right away (you don’t have to hike 2,000 ft in elevation before the ooohing and aaahhhhing begins). But most importantly, it’s covered in wild blueberries.
