Seattle’s responsible for some serious liquid gold. Sea-Tac Airport continues to roll out new upgrades to its space. | Photo via the Port of Seattle
The busy holiday travel season is upon us, and we’ve got a little gift for you. If you’re flying via Sea-Tac International Airport, we’ve created a guide that covers everything from parking + terminal upgrades, to nonstop flights. Smooth travels, friends.
What to know
Security line wait times can vary each day, but Sea-Tac recommends getting to the airport at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight. SEA Spot Saver app can help reserve your place in the security line. Pro tip: Since 80% of Seattle departures are scheduled in the morning, lines tend to lighten up after 11 a.m. — so book a midday flight, if you can.
Current airport updates
Sea-Tac is currently undergoing a multi-year renovation project spread across 1 million sqft, and we’re already seeing progress.
The construction walls near Alaska Airlines’ ticketing center have come down revealing extra lobby space, new LED screens, and terrazzo flooring. But a lot more will be changing in the coming years. Construction should be done by 2026.

Westland Distillery was kind enough to invite me out for the launch party of the Wine Cask Finish bottle that just got that Whisky Advocate mention when they released it over the summer. My notes: very yummy. Although, I actually liked the Beer Cask Finish a little better. Both are going to make excellent gifts if you’re still looking around.
