Forecasts are still shaping up, but there seems to be potential for up to two inches on Saturday, Feb. 1.
But regardless if it’s two inches or 12 inches of snow, it’s best to be prepared for winter weather.
Warm up the hot cocoa and let’s get to it.

Tech
Microsoft recently launched its new $5 million “A.I. for Good” program that seeks to support Washington scientists and innovators in sustainability, public health, or human rights that think AI could boost their work. Applications are open through Monday, Feb. 17; grant winners will be announced in March. (KING 5)
Closing
Not be the bearer of bad news, but quite a few Seattle restaurants have closed in the last month. Notable names include wine bar Rapport, Capitol Hill’s Jilted Siren, Alki Cafe, Watson’s Counter, and Happy Food — all for various reasons. (Eater Seattle)
Transit
Heading out to the islands? Washington State Ferries has opened its spring vehicle reservations for the Port Townsend/Coupeville and Anacortes/San Juan Islands routes. Reservations guarantee a spot for a car, but drivers will still need to pay their personal fare on arrival. (KIRO News Radio)
Travel
Sounds like we have some jet-setters on our hands. SeaTac International Airport is predicting a record-breaking amount of travelers this year, surpassing pre-pandemic activity for the second year in a row. In 2024, the airport had 52.6 million passengers passing through, which is ~800,000 more than in 2019. (KIRO News Radio)

You want a pizza this?
Who’s hungry? | Photo by @salt.photo
Whenever we’re feeling saucy, we like to dig into a slice of local pizza. Seattle’s pizza scene is bubbling with options — and we keep finding ways to top ourselves. If you’re on the quest for the perfect slice, we’ve pie-oneered a list of 25 places to grab pizza that are definitely worth the dough.
Spark Pizza Maybe stay closer to downtown Seattle for a slice, but don’t count out the family-owned spot in Redmond that earned a mention as one of the top 50 pizza restaurants in the US by a major Italian food blog.
Pi Vegan Pizzeria This spot bills itself as the “oldest vegan pizzeria,” but we’re mostly impressed by combos like the Shroom Truffle Shuffle with mushies and truffle oil and the Green Monster Mac with “mac n’ cheeze and bac’n.”
Cascadia Pizza Co. What began as a food truck has now expanded into a serious Eastside brand with locations in Enumclaw, Maple Valley, and Bellevue. Also, hot tip — the Maple Valley location is situated directly next to a river, giving it some distinct PNW vibes.
I had quite the eventful week. First, Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA was utterly delightful. I mentioned last week that I hadn’t been to a circus in years, but that was just expertly designed fun. I highly, highly recommend checking it out before the big top leaves in mid-March.
Second, I also hung out with our dear friend and previous editor here at SEAtoday Madeline over the weekend at Southgate Roller Rink’s ABBA Skate. What a blast. Such good fun if you’re looking for something sober (or not — but maybe don’t drink too much if you’re on skates) to do.
