Calling all night owls

Capitol Hill’s The Garage has lots of options for fun — even when the clock strikes midnight. | Photo by @dagoodnes
Let us paint you a quick picture.

It’s a perfectly good Friday night and you don’t have any Saturday plans or obligations. You’ve got tons of energy and you just want to get out, but the idea of sitting at a bar somewhere just sounds... well, kinda boring.

I mean, don’t get us wrong — we love a good old fashioned with friends. But there’s gotta be something else to do out there besides drinking, right?

Right. Here are some local picks for when late-night adventure calls.

Burn off that energy

We’ve all had a cup of coffee just a little too late in the day. If you’re feeling extra jittery or even just a little playful, Southgate Roller Rink (open until midnight on weekends) offers skate sessions for both kids and adults with appearances from live DJs and funk bands.

If you’re wanting to keep on with the winter vibes, the Seattle Kraken Community Iceplex in Northgate offers lessons, public skates (open until 10:15 p.m. on Fridays), and an attached bar for your libation-ous desires.

Recreational recs

Roll out your “The Big Lebowski” dreams with some late night bowling at The Garage in Capitol Hill (open until midnight on weekends) or West Seattle Bowl (also part of the midnight crew).

If your inner poet is sighing

Maybe you want your night to have a bit of that magic only late nights bring or you want to open it up to a serendipitous “Before Sunrise” type encounter — try taking an evening/sundown walk-on ferry trip to Bainbridge Island and back.

You don’t need to disembark to enjoy the evening breeze + city lights. We also hear that a late night stroll along Alki Beach can be quite peaceful and perfect for any brooding you need to do.

How do you follow a record-setting year? By getting stronger.

Take Pacaso. Their real estate co-ownership tech set records in Paris and London in 2024. No surprise. Coldwell Banker says 40% of wealthy Americans plan to buy abroad within a year, so Pacaso’s planned Italy expansion is big.

They’ve already made $110 million+ in gross profits to date, including 41% YoY growth last year. (They even reserved the Nasdaq ticker PCSO.) And you can invest for $2.90/share.

The Seafair Torchlight Parade has a new route for 2025. Pro tip: The parade is free, but premium seats are for sale. (Seattle Times)

Traffic

Commuters spent 80 minutes in traffic between Lynnwood and Seattle on I5 earlier this week due to a month-long construction project that eliminated some lanes. Officials suggest taking public transit — namely buses and trains — for an alternative to bumper-to-bumper traffic. At least that way you can be reading SEAtoday on the way to work, right? The Wrap

Do you know someone who puts the “bomb” in “bombshell?” While the country is still coming down from its collective “Love Island USA” hysteria, the producers are already looking for Season 8 applicants.
