Wow — we’re honored, like really honored.

We don’t know if you caught this, but we were just mentioned in Brandi Carlile’s Grammy Award acceptance speech. After the locally-based band’s list of thank yous to the usual friends and family, Brandi added:

”... and everybody in Seattle who just made us want to strive for this incredible accolade.”

So, yes, that includes you, too.

She didn’t really get into what exactly we did to inspire her right then, but dished out the deets backstage at a press conference later that night. Here are the mentions of our local rock n’ roll inspirations:

  • Sit & Spin | An old venue once located at 2219 Fourth Avenue in Belltown.
  • Rkcndy | Another club, closed down in 1999 and turned into a Spring Hill Suites.
  • Pike Place Market | Obviously.
  • Easy Street Records | And specifically owner Matt Vaughan.
  • The local “way-pavers” | Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden
