Marination donates two food trucks to South Seattle College

They’ll now help educate culinary students and future mechanics.

Keep on truckin’, old timer. Marination‘s longtime mobile unit Big Blue is on the road to a new life now that the Hawaiian restaurant has donated it and another small ice cream truck to South Seattle College (SSC) for educational purposes. There was an even a super sweet goodbye tribute on Instagram.

If you want a little more color, Big Blue helped launch Marination in 2009 as a mobile operation. The owners eventually opened multiple stationary locations around town.

Big Blue and its little sibling will now help teach students in SSC’s Automotive Technology and Culinary Arts programs. The tech students will learn how to keep that motor running, while future chefs will create their own menus from the trucks.

SSC said it hopes to have the trucks fully refurbished by the end of the fall quarter or the beginning of January. It’ll also ask the campus community to help rename them.
