The Seattle Department of Transportation announced that several big projects either already have a contractor or will get one in early 2024 — paving the way for construction to start soon.
- Route 40 project | Upgrades aim to reduce travel time and improve safety on the bus route from Pioneer Square to Northgate.
- 11th Avenue NE + 12th Avenue NE | Look for added bike lanes, curb ramps, and new paving in Roosevelt, Ravenna, and the U District.
- Broadview-Thomson and Cedar Park Elementaries | Work includes new sidewalks and greenspaces along the schools’ routes.
- Route 48 project | There will be new bus-only lanes and signal upgrades from South Seattle to the U District.
- Seismic reinforcements | Workers will secure pedestrian bridges at several locations like Crown Hill and West Seattle.
- Downtown protected bike lane upgrades | Concrete barriers will be installed on the existing bike lanes on Fourth Avenue.
