Coming Soon: Get your coffee with a side of yarn at Stitch Cafe in Seattle

Crochet and coffee shop concept Stitch Cafe is opening this summer in Capitol Hill.

The corner of a building features silver metal doors and concrete steps, framed by the leafy branches of a tree. The storefront doesn't bear any signage or markings, but it will soon be the home of Stitch Cafe.

Capitol Hill was selected for the location of the store because of its strong arts scene and community presence.

A new concept fusing crocheting and coffee is coming to Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood — Stitch Cafe aims to open this summer (with an exact date TBA).

Owner and founder Sarah Chae plans to convert the space into a mid-century modern vibe with a fair dose of grandma-esque decor (it’s all about balance). However, her main focus is to provide an inclusive gathering area for local crafters. Chae’s personal experience as an LGBTQIA+ fiber artist lends her a first-hand perspective on how to approach that goal.

As for the coffee part, Everett-based Upright Tree Coffee Roasters will be taking care of that with its locally roasted micro-batch beans.

Currently under construction, Stitch Cafe will take up residence in the storefront formerly occupied by Poco Bar & Lounge at 1408 E. Pine St.
