How to avoid Labor Day traffic headaches
This season has been the Washington State Ferries’ busiest since 2019. | Photo via WSDOT
As the last major holiday weekend of the summer, Labor Day is filled with folks trying to soak up the sun. As a result, traffic is a bit... well, you know.
If your plans include travel, here are a few things to keep in mind to your trip go more smoothly.
According to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) predictions, traffic will be at its worst between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. this weekend along all major highways and interstates.
WSDOT has a real-time map that shows you the conditions of the roads.
Sea-Tac Airport expects to be ~18% busier than it was on Labor Day in 2022. Make sure you’re prepared.
Some Washington State Ferry routes are running with fewer boats, so expect delays during peak times as ~400,000 people are expected to make crossings.
Most importantly, stay safe.
