Today is National Voter Registration Day which encourages Americans across the US to make sure their paperwork is up to date to vote in the upcoming elections.

Since the day was first observed in 2012, more than 5 million voters across the country have used the holiday to register to vote. However, according the most recent US census data, as many as one in four Americans may still not be registered to vote.

Let’s help fix that.

Double check your registration status

You only need to update your voter registration status whenever you move (otherwise your ballot gets sent to the wrong place), but it’s best to double check to make sure everything’s correct ahead of time.

Find your registration status on King County’s Elections website and see what items will be on your next ballot. It takes just seconds to fill out.

Register, if you need to

Not registered? Don’t sweat it. You can:

Watch for these upcoming dates

Monday, Oct. 30 — Last day to register to vote online or by mail | After this date, you’ll have to register to vote in person for this year’s election cycle.

Tuesday, Nov. 7 — Election Day | It’s the big day. Make sure your ballots are postmarked or turned into a ballot drop-off box before 8 p.m.

We got a lot of cozy sounding responses when we asked this question last week. Our favorites were “my own neighborhood (Maple Leaf),” “Lake Quinault Lodge,” and “the Methow Valley.” Although, “in the Bahamas” sounds pretty nice, too.

I had a blast over the weekend getting to see the Seattle Symphony’s “Game ON!” performance. I’m already a very big video game fan — but even so, seeing all of the beautiful animation juxtaposed with thier beautiful scores does a lot to show just how much thought and creativity goes into making these games.

So impressive. And what a neat thing to showcase in one of the video game-making capitals of the US.
