Zeeks Pizza and Ferment Brewing release PNW-inspired beer

City Editor Madeline's hand is in the shot, holding up a slice of pizza topped with sundried tomatoes and arugula. A pint of light-colored beer sits next to the plate of pizza on a wooden counter in front of the pizzeria's bar.

Seattle’s popular pizza chain Zeeks Pizza and Oregon-based Ferment Brewing are resurfacing their collaborative, PNW-inspired beer — The Reach Pilsner.

This year, the crisp, golden lager will be available in tallboy cans as four-packs at 23 Zeeks locations.

But what’s the story behind the brew?

The beer name is inspired by Zeeks staff’s windsurfing expeditions across the Columbia River — specifically the moment when you reach from Washington to the Oregon side.

These trips are where they became acquainted with local Ferment Brewing’s Hana Pils beer, which was later added to the restaurant’s tap rotation. An official collab beer was the natural next step.

Enter The Reach Pilsner, a light blend of American and German malts with a subtle finish of fruity hops.

Catch the release party at 1830 E. Mercer St. on Thursday, June 6, 4-8 p.m. and raise a pint to a match made in heaven — beer and pizza.
The Buy

From the editor
Guys — my next door neighbor told me they heard my cat meowing when I leave and that he sounded like a baby crying.

In true investigative fashion, I left my apartment and locked the door but then waited outside for a few moments.

Sure enough, I’m hearing what I can only describe as the most forlorn wailing I’ve ever heard. I guess I can’t leave my apartment ever again. 😭
