☕ Don’t be so chai about it
Go-to stops for tea lovers in Seattle
Ghost Note’s chai pairs superbly with its pistachio rose cake (or any of its baked goods, really). | Photo by SEAtoday Staff
The days are getting shorter, there’s a chill in the air, and the leaves are juuuuust starting to change. This can only mean one thing — chai season is here.
The epitome of sugar, spice, and everything nice, a steamy chai is sure to perk you up out of your end-of-summer blues.
Here are some of our fave Seattle spots for a good ol’ piping hot cup of the stuff:
Ghost Note Coffee | It may specialize in coffee, but when it comes to chai, Ghost Note doesn’t disappoint with its subtly sweet and spiced chai that comes lightly dusted with ground cinnamon.
Saffron Grill | This Indian-Mediterranean fusion restaurant in the Northgate neighborhood serves up a mean cup of hot chai — and the price you pay includes refills, too.
QED | With locations in Mount Baker + West Seattle, this coffee roaster’s chai includes fresh ginger for an extra sharp flavor profile.
Stone Way Cafe | Come for this Fremont spot’s chai (which hedges on the sweeter side) and a savory breakfast sandwich, stay for its variety of in-shop events.

🐥 A little Bird-ie told us
Sue Bird gets a Seattle street named after her
Mayor Bruce Harrell announced the street name change on Monday, Aug. 26 at a small ceremony.
Just a couple hundred feet from where she helped make history at the Climate Pledge Arena, Sue Bird now has a street named after her following a Monday, Aug. 26 ceremony.
The updated sign, labeled Sue Bird Court, now stands at the intersection of Lenny Wilkens Way and Second Avenue North just inside the Seattle Center.
Bird spent the entirety of her 19-season career with the Storm, where she became:
Among the top 10 scores of all time with 6,700+ regular season point
Winner of four WNBA championships
The team retired her No. 10 jersey in June 2023. It now hangs in the Climate Pledge Arena rafters next to Lauren Jackson’s where fans can gaze on it for years to come.
Living in a city where women athletes are so respected and upheld is so amazing. I love getting to see the impacts that incredible local stars like Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, Jewell Loyd, and others are making within the Emerald City.
