Get those forks ready. Seattle Restaurant Week (SRW) is back, running from Sunday, Oct. 27 until Saturday, Nov. 9 (so essentially two full weeks).

In case you need a reminder, SRW is when restaurants across the city offer special meal deals, which include $20 lunches and multi-course $35/$50/$65 dinners. It’s a great opportunity to try out a new place or rediscover old favorites.

Over 200 restaurants and food trucks are participating in SRW’s fall edition, with takeout and delivery options + a charitable component.

Here are this year’s highlights and must-tries (most prices do not include tax and service charges):
Three plastic cups filled with a purple-colored coffee drink and labels that say "Hood Famous"

Hood Famous is known for smooth ube lattes, but has other specialty drinks, too.

Buzzworthy spots
  • BAD CHANCLA ($20) | Chef JosĂ© GarzĂłn’s latest project is offering sandwich and rice bowl meal deals with a drink for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
  • Shiro’s Sushi ($65) | The famed sushi restaurant is offering a 5-course meal with19 pieces of nigiri for quite a steal.

“That’s a bargain”
  • Walla Walla Steak Co. ($50) | Get a taste of Washington’s wine country with a three-course meal featuring entree choices of beef cheek, surf + turf, or buttermilk fried chicken.
  • El Gaucho ($65) | Each of the restaurant’s three locations has a special dinner deal for steak and seafood lovers.
  • Daniel’s Broiler ($65) | With this three-course dinner, you can top off your filet mignon with a vanilla bean creme brulee.

    New school closure plan announced

Dunlap School in Rainier Beach is partially obscured by surrounding trees in the foreground, whose branches cover up the top half of the building. The building, composed of white stone and red brick, features a columned entry and a wide, green grass lawn.

After receiving criticism from the community about its proposed plans to fix a $91.5 million budget gap, Seattle Public Schools has released a new plan that merges four schools instead of the initial 17+ suggested earlier this fall.

The following schools will close and transfer to the corresponding listed locations:
    • North Beach Elementary will transfer to Viewlands Elementary
    • Stevens Elementary will transfer to Montlake Elementary
    • Sacajawea Elementary will transfer to John Rogers Elementary
    • Sanislo Elementary will transfer to Highland Park Elementary School
These schools were picked for closure because of declining enrollment, building age + safety, regional needs, and assessed impacts on students and family. A plan for the transfer of school programs and new staffing structures has not been released yet.

SPS Superintendent Brent Jones said the closures are intended to help stabilize to school system financially while they work to address the rest of the budget gap.
