Closing
Mamnoon is closing on Sunday, Sept. 14, leaving a samak-shaped hole in our hearts and in Capitol Hill. The good news? You can still shop their products at 100+ Seattle markets, and Mbar + Mamnoon Street are remaining open. Maybe some of these new Seattle restaurants will bring some comfort.
Outdoors
An alligator snapping turtle was discovered in Lake Washington. Known for its distinctive appearance and potential to disrupt habitats, it is not native to the area. Our suggestion? Try out one of these other local swimming spots. (Fox 13 Seattle)
Pets
Washington State Ferries has temporarily updated its policy to allow leashed dogs in passenger areas, excluding food galleys. Owners must follow specific rules regarding pet placement and behavior. This trial began recently and will be reviewed in February for potential permanence. Service animals remain permitted in all areas. (The Seattle Times)
Arts
The Paragon sculpture in West Seattle was demolished due to safety concerns, but artist Don Fels plans to replace it with a new steel version incorporating wooden elements. Nucor Seattle will assist with engineering and installation. In the meantime, check out these local landmarks.
