Every week, we write SEAtoday with one goal: to help you feel more connected to your city. And we’re not alone — our friends across the US, from Seattle to Tampa Bay, do the same for our 6AM City communities.

We believe in the power of local media to keep the community informed, engaged, and excited about where they live. That’s why our newsletter is and will remain free.

How do we make it sustainable?

We partner with national brands and some of Seattle’s best organizations + businesses that support our mission of bringing only good news to your inbox. But we also rely on reader support.
Over the next 10 days, we’re launching a reader-driven campaign to sustain what we do best:

  • Curating news for every Seattleite | Like this feature on the history of Bartell Drugs and this guide to Seattle’s pizza scene
  • Helping you plan for major events | From festival coverage to our SEAtoday Events section filled with the most-anticipated events in Seattle
  • Maintaining our credibility + trust | Fun fact: Our company has turned down more than a million dollars in political ads since we started

If reading SEAtoday makes an impact on your day, we’d love your support — a little pick-me-up for us, so we can keep the good news coming for you.

Buckle up: Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is in full transformation mode.

Through its Upgrade SEA campaign, the airport is rolling out major improvements — from expanded spaces and streamlined access to new amenities — all designed to boost comfort, efficiency, and the overall travel experience.

And with Seattle preparing to welcome a global audience of soccer fans next year, these projects are expected to wrap just in time to welcome the world in style (and with a lot less stress).

Here’s what’s changing:
  • Roadway improvements | Dedicated routes for shuttles, parking, and taxis mean less congestion and increased safety.
  • SEA Gateway Project | Introducing a sleek new Alaska check-in experience, upgraded security checkpoint, and modern design details
  • C Concourse Expansion | 200,000+ sqft of sustainable space with new food, retail, and traveler amenities (hello, sensory room and airfield views)
All three projects are expected to be completed by summer 2026.

Tony’s Trees will return this season — and there’s a new Tony running the show. The new operator of the tree lot at 35th/Barton is named Anthony Morella, and apparently, he’s a relative of the former owners. He’ll be opening up shop right after Thanksgiving. (West Seattle Blog)

Where should I go for date night?

Last week, we asked our readers for date night recs. We only get so many nights out — better make it count.
  • Reader Gretchen M.'s recommendation: La Vita e Bella in Belltown. “It’s been there longer than we have (we moved in 2001) and it’s been a favorite since then. Flowers on the tables, neat stained glass lights, and delicious food.” Count us in.
  • Reader Pete F.'s recommendation: Aerlume. We love any place that offers bone marrow butter as an add-on.
  • The most popular pick: Tilikum Place Cafe. Several readers mentioned this eclectic bistro known for its Dutch babies.

The Buy
