Okay, Seattle — let’s ride. Today is Bike Everywhere Day (or Bike to Work Day), which is an opportunity to ditch the car + enjoy a pedal-powered journey throughout our city, feeling the wind in your hair. Flower baskets optional. 🌸
Participation really just means hoppin’ on a bicycle built for one (or two) and seeing where the day takes you. But if you need to map out a more specific plan, we’re happy to be your guide. And be sure to check out everything that’s been going on during Bike Everything Month.
Hit the road 🛣️
Of all the many great bike paths ‘round the city, the Burke-Gilman Trail may be one of the most popular, since it connects to several other arteries. For a shorter ride, hit up Magnuson Park — but if you’re feeling really ambitious, connect from the trail in Bothell + ride to Redmond on the paved Sammamish River Trail, a couple of routes suggested by Cascade Bicycle Club.
The club has a full map of Bike Everywhere Day celebration stations, where folks can take a break for coffee, snacks, swag, bike repairs + high fives. And don’t forget that the city’s first Lake Washington Bicycle Weekend (when the scenic road is closed to cars) starts today.

No bike? No problem. Bike share companies Lime + Veo are Seattle’s two primary options for those who want to take a ride without the purchasing commitment — and, yes, bikes are still available among all the e-scooters. Just download the app from either company’s website, track a location on the map + follow instructions to unlock. Once you’re done, be sure to avoid driveways + crosswalks.
