You’ll get a kick out of this, local soccer fans — Ballard FC has announced the launch of a brand new semi-pro women’s team, set to kick off in May 2025.

The new USL W team — which will have a separate logo and brand from Ballard FC — will be the sixth in the league’s Northwest Division and is intended to provide a pathway for aspiring pro players.

Investors for the team include National Women’s Soccer League players Lauren Barnes, Jess Fishlock, Olivia Van Der Jagt, and Sam Hiatt; as well as Rough and Tumble owner Jen Barnes.

A brand reveal is scheduled to take place this fall, but in the meantime, fans can get fired up at Ballard FC’s Fan Appreciation Night game on Friday, July 12 where some extra partying is to be expected.
