We made a Seattle-based prom playlist

Featuring tunes from Brandi Carlile, Macklemore, and Sir Mix-A-Lot

This would have been a much harder playlist to make if we were from somewhere not quite as talented as us.

Corsage and boutonniere? Check. Dress and tux? Check. Sick, Seattle-based prom playlist?

Check.

It’s prom season here in Seattle, which not only has us reminiscing about our own big-haired, fluffy-dressed, two left-footed adventures, but thinking about tunes. What kind of playlist would you play if all of Seattle was a giant prom?

It was easy to fill a Spotify playlist with local bands. Brandi Carlile was perfect for slow dances and you can always rely on Sir Mix-A-Lot for sweat-inducing rap jams. Our selections:

  • Ideal grand entrance theme: “Foxey Lady” by Jimi Hendrix
  • Showing off your moves: “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot
  • Slow dancing: “I Belong to You” by Brandi Carlile
  • Time for snacks: “Mykonos” by Fleet Foxes
  • Omg, are you about to kiss your date?: “These Dreams” by Heart
  • Dance battle: “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore

Join in on our nostalgia by adding your own recs.

We’ll share our favorites later this week.
