While many Seattleites will enjoy St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 17 for the party atmosphere, the day honoring the patron saint of Ireland is also accompanied by other kinds of fun and educational opportunities.

Here’s a mix of both kinds of events.

Irish Festival Seattle | Saturday, Mar. 11-Sunday, Mar. 12 | Sat. 12-6 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. | Seattle Center Armory Food and Event Hall | Free | Produced by the Irish Heritage Club, this event features dancing, music, lectures, and more.

Seattle St. Patrick’s Day Parade | Saturday, Mar. 11 | 12:30 p.m. | Jefferson Street and Fourth Avenue | Free | Expect floats, traditional Irish dancers, and lots of tunes.

St. Patrick’s Day Dash | Sunday, Mar. 12 | 7 a.m.-12 p.m. | Seattle Center | $20-50 | Anything can be an excuse to race — there’s a beer garden at the finish line.

Kell’s 40th Annual St. Patrick’s Irish Festival | Wednesday, Mar. 8-Sunday, Mar. 20 | Various times | Kell’s Irish Restaurant and Bar, 1916 Post Alley | Free | This fest with live music and drinks runs for almost two weeks.

Kiss Me, I’m Irish: Seattle St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawl | Friday, Mar. 17-Saturday, Mar. 18 | 6 p.m.-2 a.m. | Check-in at Shawn O’Donnell’s Irish Pub | $20-60 | Get access to drink specials with no cover at more than five local bars.
