Step right up, ferry goers. The new Marion Street Pedestrian Bridge will open before the end of the week, providing an elevated pathway for bikers, strollers, and rollers from First Avenue to the ferry terminal at Colman Dock.
The bridge
was originally supposed to open on Monday, Nov. 6, but harsh weekend weather pushed the debut back a bit. Once it’s ready, expect:
- A path that’s 3 ft wider than the previous, temporary bridge
- Unobstructed views of the Great Wheel + other Waterfront features
- New lighting on the bridge at all hours
Crews are still removing parts of the temporary bridge — but don’t worry, they won’t just toss them in the garbage.
Five sections will be used for construction on the Puget Sound to Pacific Trail System
, a continuous path running from the Kingston Ferry Terminals on Bainbridge Island to the Pacific Ocean at La Push. Learn more about the ambitious project
