Hope you’re getting into gear — May Is Bike Everywhere Month.

The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT)’s city bike guide and Cascade Bicycle Club’s trails for beginners should help get you off on the right foot. But look out for these events, too:

  • Bicycle Film Festival at SIFF | Saturday, May 6 | Watch short, bike-themed documentaries and animated films.
  • Seattle Bike-n-Brews | Sunday, May 7 | Travel a 38-mile route from Georgetown to Tukwila on mostly flat ground, before sampling beer and bites at the finish line.
  • Bike Everywhere Day | Friday, May 19 | Join a citywide celebration with stations and goodies along the way.

Paul Tolmé, content strategist from Cascade, also shared his favorite bike rides. He likes the Elliott Bay Trail, starting near the Olympic Sculpture Park and going up to Smith Cove Park in Magnolia. He also recommended the Burke-Gilman route from Magnuson Park to Bothell: “Pack a picnic.”
