If horror movies tend to leave you sleeping with the lights on, it may not be very reassuring to know that plenty were filmed right here in Seattle.

Can you blame tthose filmmakers for taking advantage of our inherently moody atmosphere and connection to serial killers like Ted Bundy ?

Here are a few horror movies that may hit a little close to home.

The Ring (2002) | While the climax of this movie was filmed on Cape Disappointment, you may recognize the main character’s Belltown apartment.

The Vanishing (1993) | A boyfriend’s search for his missing girlfriend brings him through Pioneer Square Station, Pike Place’s Sur la Table, and Seattle Yacht Club.

Fear (1996) | A local woman’s super toxic relationship runs its course in West Seattle.

Rose Red (2002) | This miniseries scripted by Stephen King is centered around a fictional haunted mansion here in town. Interior shots were filmed inside an abandoned air hangar at Sand Point.
