Cause
Over 100 abandoned cats have been rescued from a Federal Way apartment and are now looking for fur-ever homes. Found with no food or water, the cats will be transferred to the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County. Demand for fosters and adoptions is urgent. (KING 5)

Land ho — one of the four privately owned piers in Seattle just hit the market. The 107,000-sqft Pier 70 is currently home to Pub 70 and Aqua by El Gaucho + has a tax-assessed value of $27.3 million. (KING 5)

The folks behind the Belltown Mural Festival, which just launched in August, are hosting a free tour tomorrow, Oct. 13. The walking celebration of the neighborhood’s street art will start at Belltown Dog Park at 12 p.m. and span ~2 miles.
Environment
Bering Sea snow crabbing might be canceled for a third year. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration scientists have been monitoring the PNW’s “crabbing crisis” since 2021, when millions of crabs seemingly vanished. They will need to determine if enough crabs have reached maturity. (KING 5)

Kraken (NHL) | Est. 2018
The city’s youngest major pro team brought NHL hockey back to Seattle for the first time in more than a century. The Kraken play in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division and had their inaugural season as an expansion team in 2021-22. The team is known for electric home games featuring Hollywood-like introductions and a twist on Nirvana’s song “Lithium” with the chorus “Let’s Go Kraken.”
