Seattle neighborhoods as the zodiac signs

It’s written in the stars... and the skyline.

What neighborhood do you feel most aligned with?

There’s no doubt that different neighborhoods have their own distinct personalities — there’s just no way you could ever say that Magnolia and Capitol Hill have the same vibes.

So, we thought we’d have some fun trying to work out what zodiac sign each neighborhood would be if they were people.

Aries (March 21-April 19): Kirkland

As the first zodiac sign in the cycle, Aries love to be first. Likewise, this neighorhood often lands at the top of lists like most expensive homes, coolest corporate offices, and some of the highest incomes.

Recommendation: Take a stroll in Marina Park at sunset and marvel over your city’s beauty.

Taurus (April 20-May 20): West Seattle

West Seattle is one of those parts of town that has everything it really needs in one place, accommodating comfort-seeking Taurus personalities. There are great restaurants, plenty of activities, and they’ve even got a beach.

Recommendation: Stop by the West Seattle Farmers Market for some fresh ingredients which you can then use to make a comfy, home-cooked meal.

Gemini (May 21-June 20): South Lake Union

A lot of people may think that Geminis are a little scattered, but they’re really just intensely multi-faceted. Similarly, South Lake Union has a little bit of everything — night life, nature, shopping, business offices, and some of the best views in town.

Recommendation: Rent a hot tub boat for a cruise around Lake Union before heading before a fancy dinner at Daniel’s Broiler — a vibe switch is like a breath of fresh air to Geminis.

Cancer (June 21-July 22): Queen Anne

Cancers are romantics, but like any shelled creature, they also like a lot of comfort. Queen Anne is both one of Seattle’s most beautiful neighborhood with its waterfront views and rolling hills and one of its quietest. All ideal for a watery sign looking for some peace.

Recommendation: Grab a cup of coffee or hot cocoa from Caffè Fiorè then rest for a bit at Kerry Park.

Leo (July 23-August 22): Belltown

When a Leo meets another Leo, anyone nearby knows about it. They’re warm-hearted and willing to hype themselves and others up, despite any flaw — and no neighborhood in town is quite so proud to be itself than Belltown, despite any flaws. The energy from its night life also meets fire sign standards.

Recommendation: Check out a band you’ve never heard of before at The Crocodile, be impressed by how good they are, then head to Screwdriver Bar for a rock ‘n’ roll-themed night cap.

Virgo (August 23-September 22): Downtown

Virgos are known for their hard work ethic and never-ending lists of ideas. What better place for that kind of engine than a buzzing, downtown metropolis? Or least, the city will certainly benefit by putting these brilliant, organized minds together in the same area.

Recommendation: Plan a co-working, coffee date with some people who inspire you at Mr. West.

Libra (September 23-October 22): Waterfront/Pike Place

Libras provide balance and equilibrium and are often the people that serve as the glue between different friends groups. This is exactly what the Waterfront does for Seattle as the bridge between locals and tourists. Sure, Pike Place can get flooded with people trying to catch a fish, but none of us can deny the quality of that fish or the beauty of the waterfront views.

Recommendation: Plan an entire meal with a friend or significant other using only ingredients you can find at Pike Place Market.

Scorpio (October 23-November 21): Capitol Hill

Okay, don’t come after us. We know that Scorpios may think Capitol Hill isn’t quite moody enough for their tastes — but if you look cool in leather jackets, you can’t ignore the science.

Recommendation: Grab a chambong from La Dive then attend an event at Elliott Bay Cook Company — or vice versa.

Sagittarius (November 22-December 21): Fremont

Recommendation: Sagittariuses are the friendliest people at the party and love collaboration — especially over something creative. They’re quirky, and Fremont is all about sharing its creative endeavors.

Recommendation: Find some new clothes or household trinkets to express your inner eccentric at the Fremont Vintage Mall before a quick pint at Fremont Brewing.

Capricorn (December 22-January 19): First Hill

If there’s anyone you want in charge of your medical situation, it’s a Capricorn. This group is all about attention to detail, hard work, and standing firm in their beliefs.

Recommendation: Have a cup of coffee and a doughnut from Top Pot Doughnuts to start your day and then ease that tension in your shoulders we know you feel with a pint at Locust Cider.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18): U District

Aquariuses are known for their love for knowledge, desire for personal freedom, and acute passion for anything peculiar or outside the norm... so basically a college student.

Recommendation: Challenge your friends to find new threads at Crossroads Trading Co. before embarking on a food/drink tour along the Ave.

Pisces (February 19-March 20): Ballard

Pisces are another romantic group in the world of zodiac and certainly prone to daydreaming. For those that find themselves captivated by life and their surroundings, we would be hard-pressed to find a place better than Ballard with its exceptional views and proximity to all sorts of watery environments.

Recommendation: Many might direct you to Golden Gardens, but may we suggest instead an afternoon at the Ballard Locks? We can assure that watching the salmon (or the seals trying to eat the salmon) are almost as captivating as people-watching.

So, how’d we do? Are we missing a neighborhood? Or did we totally misrepresent your community or zodiac sign? Let us know.
