Which Seattle sea lion personality are you?

Okay, we’re flippin’ out over the adorable sea lions that have parked themselves on the pier near Ray’s Boathouse in Shilshole Bay this week.

The whiskery mammals made the trip up from California + are frequent visitors to the Puget Sound — mainly because our seafood is so on point (we can’t disagree). They’ll chill for a while before heading back south for mating season, after updating their Bumble profiles, of course.

Perhaps jealous of all the attention local crows + whales have gotten, this year’s crew is really a whole mood. In fact, we see a lot of ourselves in these expressive faces — and you may too. See which sea lion personality fits your lifestyle.

Total side-eye

Let’s face it — you’ve been there, done that, and have a healthy skepticism for anybody proclaiming that they know the “hot new place” in town. While some of your buds frolic in the water, you’re okay standing on the sidelines, waiting for something a lot cooler to come along.

Natural habitats include: Nautical-themed dives that avoid making a fuss like Octopus Bar + Sloop Tavern.

Zenned out

You’ve got it made in the shade, my friend. Everything is copacetic as long as you’re out enjoying some fresh air, or relaxing with some low-key activities. Let others worry about hunting for prey — your scene is more about sitting on the dock of the bay.

Natural habitats include: The relaxing shoreline + dry land trails at Discovery Park, yoga classes at 8 Limbs, and afternoon tea at Queen Mary.

Rebel yell

Look out, world. You bork to the beat of your own drum, and have no tolerance for pesky rules seeking to constrain your sea-worthy spirit. When the tide is high, you have no qualms about speaking your mind and letting that freak flag fly.

Natural habitats include: Karaoke nights at Baranof + pretty much any tattoo parlor in the greater Seattle area.

Ready for a nap

Your motto is pretty much “wake me up before you go-go.” You’ve found a cozy spot, and very little will get you to move. Time to get that salmon delivered.

Natural habitats include: Grabbing some much-needed caffeine + a snack at the appropriately named Melo Cafe in the Central District, then back to the couch.
