Downtown feeling a little more bustling lately? This week, Amazon started bringing many employees back to its offices in the heart of the city — and other big tech companies will soon follow with similar hybrid work requirements.

If you’re one of the busy bees getting reacquainted to commuter life — or just want to support local businesses in downtown and South Lake Union — allow us to be your guide.

Quick lunch spots

Manna , 433 Terry Ave. | As a part of the Lebanese-influenced restaurant group that includes Mamnoon , you’ll find dishes like mini shawarma and build-your-own bowls.

Marination , 2000 Sixth Ave. | Grab a kalua pork taco, kimchi quesadilla, or “sexy tofu fried rice” at this fast-casual Hawaiian-Korean favorite that’s just steps away from the Spheres.

Rubinstein’s Bagels , 2121 Sixth Ave. | Who says Seattle doesn’t have a good bagel scene? The Via6 cafe will add a little bit of “everything” to your day — and be sure to try the salted rosemary.

Dine + drink after work

Palace Kitchen , 2030 Fifth Ave. | Chef Tom Douglas’s mainstay bar is back with its famed burger, complimentary pistachios, and potent cocktails. Bonus: it’s open until 1 a.m. Wednesday-Sunday.

King Leroy , 2051 Seventh Ave. | Restaurateur Renee Erickson’s bright gastropub has a strong beer list and killer bites. Is a Seattle Dog a sandwich?

The Butcher’s Table , 2121 Westlake Ave. | Yes, it’s got the meats — but there are oysters and a happy hour menu Monday-Friday with discounted wine, too.

That’s entertainment

The Crocodile , 2505 First Ave. | Catch a rock concert or comedy show at this versatile venue which moved into bigger, fancier digs in 2021.

Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley , 2033 Sixth Ave. | Snap those fingers and you’ll find cool performances Tuesday-Sunday at the longtime club for avid jazz fans.
