A message from our team

Ahh, the smell of fresh paint. Today we’re excited to share some updates to our newsletter design. We hope these changes will help us deliver an even better reader experience — but as with most remodels, we may experience a few hiccups along the way. If your email doesn’t look quite right or if you have feedback on ways we can continue to improve, please drop us a line.

Where’s our gift?

Happy 3rd birthday SEAtoday.png
Yes, these are the coolest party people you’ve ever seen. | Graphic by SEAtoday’s biggest fans (us)
It’s our birthday, we can cry if we want to.

Don’t worry, we’re crying happy tears — Friday, Oct. 18 marks three years of SEAtoday. *cue the airhorns*

That means three years of bringing you hyperlocal news, bad puns, and (hopefully) a lot of smiles.

In celebration of our big day, here are some of our favorite moments from the past year:
  • While we were super sad to see Gabe go in February, we had a good time reminiscing about the days spent investigating cryptid goo mysteries and interviewing drawbridge artists.
  • Another silver lining to that tear-jerker of a departure was Madeline’s arrival from Sacramento.
  • SEAtoday also made its on-air debut with KING 5 in August (which was also Madeline’s birthday) — we talked “demure,” fizzy canned cocktails, and Bruno Mars + Lady Gaga’s latest single.

Oh, hi — it’s Madeline (left) and Alina (right) after their film time for a KING 5 segment.

But those are our favorite memories. Here’s the stuff you all loved the most this year:
Thanks for taking this trip around the sun with us — we can’t wait to go for round four.

A longship sits on display at the National Nordic Museum. The ship is primarily made of brown-painted wood, but has intricate golden accents along the bow of the ship.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Alina

Wow... it’s really crazy to think that it’s been three years since SEAtoday launched. I actually moved to Seattle just two weeks before we sent out our first newsletter, so it feels like SEAtoday and I have almost grown up together. At the time of launch, we only had 200 Instagram followers and Gabe was my only friend here.

And now SEAtoday has 36,000+ Instagram followers and I have met so many inspiring Seattleites who are now friends of mine (like our own City Editor Madeline).

I just can’t help but get genuinely a little teary-eyed thinking about it all. 💚
