This week both Seattle University men’s and women’s basketball teams are at the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in Las Vegas — the last hurdle before reaching the NCAA Tournament later this month.
If the men’s team makes it all the way through and earns a WAC championship, it will get an automatic entry into the Big Dance and make history. They haven’t been in the NCAA Tournament since 1969.
The men’s team landed the No. 4 seed in the WAC competition, meaning they’ll have to win three games in a row in order to earn the conference title and an auto bid. Unlike other conferences in the NCAA, the WAC will likely only have one team going to March Madness — so Seattle U has its work cut out for them.
The men’s team plays today at 2 p.m. against Grand Canyon University. Fans can watch on ESPN+.
