Whether you’re a video game buff or a hawk for new streamable shows, you’ve probably heard the buzz about “The Last of Us” — a new TV show based off of the popular zombified video game series .
While the first season (and first game) takes place mainly in Boston — gaming nerds know part two is set in Seattle.
We’ll have to wait and see if the TV show picks up the post-apocalyptic Seattle plot . But if your thumbs are still itching for a joystick — here are some other games based in the Emerald City.
“What Remains of Edith Finch” | This sweet, yet macabre game follows a teenr after she returns to her inherited childhood home on Orcas Island to revisit the curse that haunts her quirky family. It plays like a pop-up book and features familiar sights like Washington State Ferries and our good ol’ PNW forests in a setting .
“Shadowrun Returns” | Want to step into the future? This role-playing game plops you down in 2054 cyberpunk Seattle — populated by elves, orcs, and the like.
“Alan Wake” This game riddled with jump scares takes place near a town called Bright Falls that doesn’t exist, but it looks pretty darn close to Anacortes if you ask us.
“Life is Strange” and “Life is Strange 2" | The second installation in this video game series exploring the butterfly effect begins in Seattle. But the Fremont Troll, the Space Needle, and the Seattle Metropolitans (kinda?) make a brief appearance in the first game.
“Shrimp Magicality” | Still under development, the quirky and brightly colored game already shows some local deep cuts like the Pink Gorilla video game store.
“World in Conflict”
| Apparently, the level centering around what was the the Kingdome is pretty sweet in this strategy-based war game that explores what battle may have looked like if the Cold War morphed into WWIII.
