We know, we know. This has been keeping you up at night — how is MudHoney , the giant drill that played hero in last year’s MudHoney vs. MegaBoulder battle , doing?

The boring machine, named after the prominent Seattle-based punk band, is creating a 2.7-mile tunnel to remove 75-million gallons of untreated sewage and storm water annually during big surges. This will help protect the existing, aging infrastructure.

While Seattle has definitely seen some rocky terrain with its drills over the years , we’re happy to say the big guy has finally reached the halfway mark in its rock-crushing endeavor from Ballard to Wallingford.

It’s dug through 8,375 ft of the path’s total length, so we’re feeling pretty confident it can take down any future boulders. There’s no specific projected completion date, so we continue to watch its journey with bated breath.
